Don't forget to keep photographing, even if it's cold or rainy. There are plenty of local contests that love those rare winter or stormy day shots. A real glimpse of life as you see it. Here are a flock of turkey that I spooked in a corn field near my house. www.visitbutlercounty.com accepts photos for their monthly contest with a prize of $50. If you're not from Butler County check your local tourism agency to see if they're looking for art for their website or calendar. Whether your work is accepted or not, you'll still have fun.

Some of my favorite shoots have been with military families. So when I found this offer I was twice as excited. What a great program! Operation Hi Honey provides a canvas to thousands of troops to give to their honey on their anniversary to honor the toughest job in America, the military spouse. www.cool.CanvasOnDemand.com They also have a program for non profit fundraisers where they provide a $100 gift certificate for your silent auction or raffle.

For any of you who follow my facebook page, you've been hearing about my Chicken Picken Lawn Mowing Gas Card contest. For any of you who follow my blog, you know how much I'm in love with my pet chickens. And those of you who know me personally, know that I hate anything that feels like a popularity contest. Vote for me! Vote for my picture! I wanted to do something different. Sure, we all want facebook followers. But I don't want anyone to feel like 5th grade gym class where they get picked last because they stink at dodge ball. So this is what I came up with. The only stipulation is that you have to friend my facebook page. For every 100 new followers, I am going to let my chickens randomly pick a winner of a $10 gas card to fill your lawn mower for the summer. (By winter it could be gas for your snow blower or maybe a few dozen farm fresh eggs). After a long and painfully slow process, we've reached 100 fans. So here it is. Visual proof. Our red chickens weren't in the mood to help out so here she is, our own Peach. Named for the princess in Supermario Brothers. If you look closely there's a C, a few random greater than/less than signs, a nice space bar and and S, based on some other keystrokes we have our first winner. Go to facebook, see if you can find me, and the winner will be announced there. For all of you chicken lovers who were looking for a legitimate photography contest, I have one for you too. If you're not already familiar with www.backyardpoultrymag.com check them out. They have a monthly cover photo contest that will not only get your chickens published on the front of a magazine but also has cash prizes.

The photo at left was featured in a 2011 calendar for Erie Bank for the month of June. Want to have your work seen? There are tons of media outlets looking for YOUR photos. Check out the local phone book cover, calendars from local business' or here are a few that I have found regionally. www.westminster.edu Westminster College's Audio Visual Department has a monthly Image of the month contest. There are cash prizes and the chance for your work to be featured in a Westminster calendar. Images from the region are your best bet, since it's a Westminster calendar but it looks like they're pretty open to artist interpretation. You can cruise around their website or find my group Tiffany Wolfe Photography on facebook for more information. www.pittsburghkids.org Another great contest for those ages 14-21 and from southwestern Pa. A chance to win a trip to Europe with an opening featuring your pictures! Once again, you can cruise around their website for the details or find me on facebook Tiffany Wolfe Photography.
